Friday we continued south on the Loop Route to the Paris Landing Marina on the Tennessee River. Green Turtle Bay is in Kentucky on the Cumberland River where it is wide and is called Barkley Lake. To get to Paris Landing Marina, we went through Barkley Canal which cuts through the land area called "The Land Between the Lakes".  After the canal we entered the Tenessee River side, however what is confusing to me is that it is called Kentucky Lake. We were still in Kentucky but crossed into Tennessee several miles later even though they still call the area Kentucky Lake. I find it confusing! None the less, it all very beautiful and Paris Landing Marina is part of  Paris Landing State Park, which is amazing! The marina is large and well maintained. The Lodge in the state park is newly renovated.  One of the employees in the park called it the "Taj Mahal" of Tennessee state parks. The Park also has a beach, a golf course, nature center, trails, campgrounds, and cabins. The cabins appear newly renovated as well, and look more like homes than cabins. They all boast phenomenal  water views. The Marina and park have Civil War battle sights located in several places. One plaque was of the Johnsonville Raid and I included that below.  We had dinner with new looper friends, Barb and Donn (their boat is Current Obsession), from Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada! The food and sunset and companionship were excellent!

On Saturday, we took a long walk in the morning and then took a cab (it was a little cheaper than Uber) and went to downtown Paris, Tennessee, about 20 miles away. They have a courthouse town square and some artwork related to Paris and the town history. They had several boutiques where I find some needed shorts and shirts for the warm weather. Tim found a barber too. We had dinner at Paris Station Brewery and then our cab driver, Mario, picked us up. He suggested seeing a couple of the  town highlights on the way back including the large catfish sign because Paris has the "world's largest fish fry" and also a miniature Eiffel Tower of course! We really appreciated Mario and highly recommend to other loopers! Saturday night and Sunday morning brought the expected rain. We worshiped with our home church and then caught up on administrative tasks. We had a potluck that night with 3 other looper couples, Claire and Jon (boat Inception II) from Massachusetts,  Barb and Donn (Current Obsession)  from Ontario, and another Canadian couple, Marc and Patricia ( Scuba-DJ)  from Quebec! Tomorrow we head south again. Stay tuned!
